From 23 to 29 March 2026, five young people from Occitanie participated in the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology (I-FEST2), the largest international scientific competition in Africa, organized annually in Tunisia by the Tunisian Association for the Future of Science and Technology (ATAST).

This trip was organised as part of the European Mobisciences programme (Erasmus +). Our two civic volunteers, Emilie Guitteaud and Nathan Dean, left with the podcast project Pose ta science in the multimedia category. The on-site project was to interview young project promoters to learn more about what they are presenting. An episode on "Women in Science" was also made in order to get the opinion of the young women present on the event, who are the first concerned with this topic. This project won them the bronze medal.

The project with Kezaco was led by three young people from Carcassonne, Chaima, Rania and Nholan from the Citados association: also in the multimedia category, this project earned them the honorable mention and came to answer popular questions in a scientific way such as « Does the fish really have 3 seconds of memory? ». This project was co-directed by the Francas and Les Petits Débrouillards de l'Aude.

Beyond the competition, young people were able to discover Tunisia through a rich cultural programme: the Okba Ibn Nafaa Mosque, the El Jem Amphitheatre, the City of Sciences, the city of Sidi Bou Said and many others... In addition, other activities (cultural evening, treasure hunt, collaborative project between countries) were set up to encourage exchanges with participants from around the world. This immersion strengthened the links between young science enthusiasts and opened up new perspectives for international scientific engagement.
