February 11 is the International Day of Girls and Women of Science.
On this occasion, CIRASTI – Exposciences in Occitanie launched a call for participation so that children can make portraits of unknown women scientists. 10 portraits were selected from among those sent!
The children who made these portraits are all aged between 8 and 11 and live in Pouvourville (31), Cugnaux (31) or Bétaille (46) !
These portraits will be discovered in exhibition during theExposcience Occitanie 2022 which will take place on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 June at the Maison de Quartier Amouroux in Toulouse.
In the meantime, you can already discover the portraits of these mathematicians, physicists, astronauts, paleontologists or biologists from Iran, Poland, Russia, Germany, the United States, England or France who were pioneers or whose discoveries revolutionized their field, whether it was centuries or months ago!
These portraits were presented on 7/02 to college students and members of the associations Les Chemins Buissonniers et Femmes & Sciences Occitanie as part of their events for the International Day of Girls and Women of Sciences 2022 (related programming). Following this presentation, two special mentions were attributed to the portraits of Vera Rubin and Maryam Mirzakhani !
