On 21 and 22 May 2025, the University of Toulouse (formerly Paul Sabatier campus) hosted the Occitanie Exposciences, an event that brought together more than 200 children and young people between the ages of 5 and 25, who came to share their scientific and technical projects with the general public.
During two days rich in discoveries, they are more than 500 participants — young exhibitors, families, curious, school, leisure centres and scientists — who crossed at the heart of this great celebration of citizen science. Coming from all over Occitanie (Toulouse, Lot, Aude, Hérault...) but also from further afield, international delegations (Luxembourg, Portugal, Mexico) participated in the European Erasmus+ exchanges.

Youth projects... for all audiences
The youth-driven stands covered a wide variety of themes: environment, new technologies, biodiversity, renewable energies, astronomy, mathematics, health...
Through these presentations, interactive and fun workshops were offered by partner associations: Les Petits Débrouillards, Léo Lagrange, les Francas, Les Maths en Scène, FREDD, ARESO, REF 31, Migado, DIRE Environnement, among others. So many actors mobilized to make science alive, concrete and accessible to all.
On Wednesday 21 May, a visit to the new oberservatory hosted by UPS in Space, followed by a conference « Scientifica and Technica » organized by the Center of Scientific Imaginary at the Concorde Amphitheatre.
Thursday, May 22nd was marked by the official visit from 11am to 12pm, in the presence of Lydie Lescarmontier, glaciologist and godmother 2025 of the event. She then participated in a round table on glaciers alongside Étienne Berthier (LEGOS) and Pierre René (Moraine Association). A highlight to raise public awareness of climate change and the impact on glaciers.
The memory and speech of young people in honour
Campus FM hosted two live radio sets from the Exposciences site. The first brought back 40 years of the history of the Exposciences, with Fred Feu (CIST), Pascal Desjours (ARESO), David Tressières (Francas Occitanie) and Marième Leygonie (CIRASTI Occitanie). The second gave the floor to Lydie Lescarmontier, as well as the young exhibitors Clémence and Jason, for an exciting discussion on their projects and their commitment to science.
A free, open and non-competitive event
The Exposciences Occitanie is a free, inclusive and non-competitive event, faithful to the values of CIRASTI and part of the Citizen Spring of Occitanie. It celebrates curiosity, knowledge sharing, and the commitment of young people to a scientific approach that serves society.
A huge congratulations to all the exhibitors, partners, volunteers, visitors and organizers for this 2025 edition full of inspiration, meetings and discoveries!
