On Monday 31 May, CIRASTI recorded three podcasts as part of a series of podcasts named « Put your science down ».
This was the first time we started this type of project, everything went very well and we are now thinking about extending this experience.
The purpose of this series of podcasts was to highlight groups of young people, and student associations whose purpose is to raise awareness of a scientific theme in order to enhance their project. The interest was also to include this approach in the Occitanie 2021 Exposcience, which is why we chose to record and broadcast these podcasts on Exposcience Week.

The associations and invited groups of « Put your science down » were the UPS in Space, ASTRE, IGEM and « Nix Olympica »:
- UPS in Space is a student association of astronomy, which had come to present us its project of observatory 100% student. Their objective and to be able to make the observation of the sky accessible to all, this project is part of this approach. Once their observatory is open it will be possible for students and young people in Toulouse to come and observe the stars with equipment usually inaccessible. Their website: https://www.upsinspace.com/It is also possible to find them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- ASTRE is a student association oriented towards space engineering, which carries out several projects aimed at space with the aim of developing the technical and theoretical skills of members. They have come to present their project ASTRE Their website: https://astre-toulouse.com/en/, also available on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- IGEM is a group of students participating in the IGEM international competition, which is a synthetic biology competition that takes place every year. This year, the Toulouse group will participate with the project to reproduce the perfume of violet with bacteria, which would allow to synthesize this perfume (and others) without going through the chemicals. That's what they introduced us to the podcast. IGEM Toulouse Group is present on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- « Nix Olympica » is the name of the project led by a group of high school students of Lycée Toulouse Lautrec, as part of their club CNRS they have read Nicolas Beck's science fiction novel « Nix Olympica » published by Lucca Éditions and then analyzed. The purpose of this project is to check whether what is described in the book is possible scientifically or not. As part of the podcast, high school students were able to interview the author of the novel to learn more about how he enriched his history with scientific and technical facts.
We thank Campus FM for the success of this project, they welcomed us on their radio set so that we could record these podcasts and they also allowed their broadcast. Thanks also to the Radis Sound which has been a support for the production of podcasts.
